HL-CONT Plus Oceancruise
Advanced Wastwater Purification Systems
Advanced wastewater purification with HL-CONT PLUS OCEANCRUISE systems. Devised for operation in Alaskan waters and the Baltic Sea. Modular design for maximum flexibility. Demountable to simplify refit projects. Small footprint for efficient use of space.
Benefits of HL-CONT Plus Oceancruise Advanced Wastewater Purification (AWP) Systems
Small Footprint
HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise advanced wastewater purification systems only require roughly one third of the space of comparable systems by other manufacturers, using space efficiently. Ship’s tanks can be upgraded or converted to MBBR (Moving Bed Bioreactor) modules, which further reduces space requirements.
Modular and Dismountable – Perfect for Retrofits
HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise advanced wastewater purification systems consist of four separate modules that can be installed separately from each other, even on different decks, offering outstanding flexibility. Both Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units can be completely dismantled so that the largest components are small enough to fit through standard size hatches and doors. This also makes our HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise systems the perfect retrofit solution.
Covers Alaska & Baltic Sea
HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise systems are designed to meet or exceed the highest current standards for wastewater discharge. These advanced wastewater purification systems are suitable for ships operating in the waters of Alaska or the Baltic Sea (MARPOL Special Area).

Advanced Wastewater Purification
Dissolved Air Flotation and Moving Bed Bioreactors
HAMANN HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise advanced wastewater purification systems use a combination of our Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) and Moving Bed Bioreactor technologies. The two DAF (Dissolved Air Flotation) units separate the suspended solids (TSS) and reduce the chemical (COD) and biological (BOD) oxygen demand. The principle of our DAF technology can be observed when opening a bottle of sparkling water: Pressurized water can hold gas that escapes rapidly when the pressure is released. In our system the macerated sewage is saturated with air under pressure. By suddenly releasing the pressure we create microbubbles that adhere to suspended solids in the sewage and float them to the top of the flotation tank. The accumulated sludge is skimmed and lead to a sludge tank. In the two Moving Bed Biorectors (MBBR) bacteria metabolize the nitrogen compound. The final step of the treatment process in HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise advanced wastewater purification systems is the deactivation of e-Coli microbes by UV radiation.
Uncompromising Quality
Top Quality Components and Materials
We use only the best components from reputable manufacturers and carefully select all materials to meet the requirements of operation in a maritime environment. HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise advanced wastewater purification systems are made entirely of metal; all parts in contact with the wastewater are made of stainless steel.
Designed and Manufactured in Germany
All our plants and systems are designed and manufactured in Hollenstedt, Germany according to our DNVGL-accredited ISO 9001 quality management system.
Proven Track Record in Marine Wastewater Treatment
HAMANN delivered its first sewage treatment plant back in 1972, even before the first IMO resolution on sewage treatment was adopted. Since then, we have installed over 5.500 sewage treatment systems on superyachts, ferries, cruise ships and naval vessels all over the world.
Unrivalled Performance in Wastewater Treatment
Ease of Operation
The routine functions are fully automatic, no special crew skills are required to operate a HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise advanced wastewater purification system.
Ultimate Reliability
Proven technology and manufacturing to the highest quality standards combined with straightforward operation and low maintenance requirements give our wastewater purification systems the reliability they are known for around the world.
No Membranes or Filters – Minimun Maintenance Requirements
There are no membranes or filters in HAMANN HL-CONT Plus OceanCruise wastewater purification system, because they have to be cleaned, maintained and replaced regularly. All routine maintenance work can be carried out quickly and easily by the crew on board. The open design allows easy access to all components for inspection and service purposes.
